Low turnout is expected statewide today for the state's spring primary election, though a larger number of voters could cast ballots in Milwaukee County where five candidates are vying to advance to the April general election to replace former Scott Walker, who resigned his post as county executive after winning the gubernatorial race last fall.

Campaigning is prohibited at -- and within 500 feet of -- polling places. This includes campaign buttons, lawn signs and car signs. Candidates are allowed at polling places, but can not engage in any sort of campaigning. Voters are reminded to not wear campaign shirts or hats. Those doing so will be asked to cover such items or could be asked to leave.
If you witness any issues at your polling place, be sure to call the Milwaukee Election Commission at (414) 286-3491.
Some other things to keep in mind today before you head to the polls:
- All Wisconsin polling locations are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
- You do not need to present photo identification at the polling place.
- You do not need to pre-register to vote in Wisconsin. You can register on the day of the election at your designated polling place. Prospective voters must fill out a voter registration application (Form EB-131), provide a drivers license number, a state-issued identification card number or provide the last four digits of your social security number along with proof of residence.
- Any document used as a proof of residence MUST include:

- Your current and complete name and residential address
- And must be from one of the following proof of residence document types:
- A current and valid Wisconsin driver's license
- A current and valid Wisconsin identification card
- Any other official identification card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit
- Any identification card issued by an employer in the normal course of business and bearing a photo of the card holder, but not including a business card
- A real estate tax bill or receipt for the current year or the year preceding the date of the election
- A university, college or technical institute identification or fee card (must include photo)
- A gas, electric or telephone service statement (utility bill) for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days before Election Day
- Bank statement
- Paycheck
- A check or other document issued by a unit of government
- A residential lease which is effective for a period that includes Election Day (cannot be used as by first-time Wisconsin voters registering by mail)
