Summerfest officials today announced that American Idol's Daughtry will headline the final Marcus Amphitheater on Friday, July 6 during this year’s 40th Anniversary celebration

Christopher Adam "Chris" Daughtry was the fourth-place finalist on the fifth season of "American Idol."  He was eliminated from the reality show on May 10, 2006.

The band's self-titled debut album sold more than 1 million copies after just five weeks of release, becoming the fastest-selling debut rock album in Soundscan history, and to date outselling all of his fellow season five contestants' (including sixth place Kellie Pickler, runner-up Katharine McPhee, third place Elliott Yamin and winner Taylor Hicks) debut albums.

An opening act will be announced in the near future.
