ArtWorks for Milwaukee, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the future workforce through art, will host a donor/volunteer appreciation event for its 10th anniversary July 21.

The event will be held at ArtWorks headquarters, 706 S. 5th St., and will feature previews of upcoming changes to the ArtWorks program, success stories from ArtWorks interns and live music; it will run from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

ArtWorks provides paid internships for Milwaukee teens to teach them skills for future employment via their art and creativity. Since forming in 2001, ArtWorks has trained over 400 interns in more than 70 different programs.

This summer, ArtWorks for Milwaukee hired 16 interns to work on two art-based projects: "Mosaic Window to Your Community" with lead artist Nicole Lesser and "Safe and Sound Spoken Word" with lead artist Dan Vaughn.

Throughout the eight-week program, ArtWorks for Milwaukee interns will also blog about their experience, sharing their accomplishments and personal feedback.
