Join us on Saturday, July 22 for some lakeside munchies at the second annual OnMilwaukee Food Truck Fest. Choose from a menu of 20 trucks and enjoy the live music, games and entertainment. It's the biggest gathering of the best food on four wheels.

At OnMilwaukee, we believe in lifting up all voices and using our platform to support others’ dreams.  And that's what we hope to do for Dominic the Food Reviewer. When I first met Dominic almost two years ago, I was impressed by his passion, his curiosity and his interest in improving his writing. Over time,  I’ve not only enjoyed getting to know him better, but he has taught me as much as I have him. My hope is that you’ll not only enjoy reading Dominic’s reviews, but also glean understanding and joy from seeing the world of food through his eyes. -- Lori Fredrich, Dining Editor

For the month of November I am going to be focusing my reviews on restaurants and businesses that are either owned or helped run by individuals with disabilities.

A couple of weeks ago I checked out Lambs Farm, 14245 W. Rockland Rd, Libertyville, IL. I spent some time checking out all the shops and had a delicious meal at Lambs Farm’s Magnolia Cafe & Bakery for lunch.

Lambs Farm was created by Corrine Owen and Robert Terese. Corrine and Robert opened a pet store on State street in downtown Chicago back in 1961. The small pet shop employed a dozen of employees with developmental disabilities. The pet store was called Lamb’s pet store in Chicago. In 1965, both Corrine and Robert wanted to expand their vision. They relocated thirty five miles just north of Libertyville, Illinois.

Today, Lambs Farm employs over two hundred fifty individuals with disabilities and welcomes thousands of visitors every year. The main goal of Lambs Farm is to help people with  disabilities get employment and to get involved into the community. Lambs Farm has so many different kinds of activities for anybody who lives there or anyone looking to visit.

On the site residents can work at a bakery, a pet shop, a thrift store, the Cafe or a small factory. While I was at Lamb’s Farm I experienced and tried Lambs Farm’s Magnolia Cafe & Bakery for lunch. It is an American eatery that serves a mix of dishes from sandwiches, soups, wraps, salads, bakery and more.

The decor of the building is currently fall themed with wooden floors and pictures of fall trees throughout. There is a small little bakery right when you enter before the restaurant where they sell all different kinds of baked goods.

I ordered and tried the three chicken enchiladas which included ingredients such as melted cheese, their famous handmade green enchilada sauce, sour cream and fresh avocados on the side ($8.99).

My meal came with rice and refried beans. The meal was very colorful and appetizing to look at. The three corn tortilla enchiladas had a flaky soft texture. The green sauce had an extra creamy flavor to it, which gave it a unique and flavorful taste.

On my enchiladas, the combination of the rice, refried beans and corn was mouthwatering. The enchilada dish was well portioned and I would say it was super filling and definitely worth trying. It hit the spot because I was super hungry for those three enchiladas with refried beans and rice.

I would highly recommend taking a drive and checking out Lamb’s Farm. All the stores are very interesting and after you are done shopping and exploring, you can get a wonderful meal at Magnolia Cafe & Bakery.

Lamb’s Farm is a very beautiful and  comfortable environment to be at and while you are there I would highly suggest giving the enchiladas a try.
