Kid, You'll Move Mountains just scored a pretty cool opportunity. Frontman Jim Hanke tells us that the band was recently contacted by the producers of The Travel Channel's new show "The Last Adventure."

The series brings hosts David DiVona and Jan van der Baan III to spotlight one city per episode, picking one area band to hang out with for a few days and document the local culture, food, music and other things that make each of the showcased cities special.

The show was scouting for its Chicago episode and guess which band it wanted to highlight? That's right, former Milwaukeeans Kid, You'll Move Mountains (the members of which now reside in Geneva, Ill.)

And with that, a crew shows up Friday, Feb. 5 to film the band's 10 p.m. show at Chicago's Lincoln Hall. The episode will air later in the year. We'll keep you posted.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
