On Wednesday, April 17, The Park People of Milwaukee County will host a kickoff party to begin the 2024 Oak Leaf Discovery Tour. The kickoff party will be the launch point for an updated app, and give opportunity for Milwaukee County residents to learn more about the Oak Leaf Trail system and connect with biking enthusiasts.

The Park People (TPP) was founded in 1977 with a mission to preserve, support and enhance Milwaukee County Parks and Trails while building an effective volunteer organization. Among TPP’s programs is the Oak Leaf Discovery Tour (OLDT), a warm weather event that encourages people to explore the 125-mile-long Oak Leaf Trail that winds its way through Milwaukee County.

An important feature of the OLDT is an app, which functions like a passport, that can help people track points of interest seen on the trail. With the app, residents and visitors alike can experience sights in Milwaukee County in a unique and engaging way. The app will be available for download for only $5.00.

Proceeds from app sales will go toward maintaining Milwaukee County Parks trails.

The Oak Leaf Discovery Tour kickoff party will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at Third Space Brewing, 1505 W. St. Paul Ave., Milwaukee, and is free for anyone to attend. WMSE 91.7 FM will be broadcasting “The Wednesday Blues Drive with Terry Havel” live from the event.

Attendees can enter drawings for a chance to win month-long passes from Bublr Bikes, a vintage 76 Oak Leaf Trail metal sign and a $100 gift certificate from new outdoor company Forward Outdoor. Third Space Brewing will give $1 off a pint of beer to anyone who purchases the OLDT app.

The 2024 Oak Leaf Discovery Tour and kickoff party are sponsored by Milwaukee County Parks, Johnson’s Cycle and Fitness, Estabrook Park Beer Garden, Wheel & Sprocket, The Landing at Hoyt Park, Bublr Bikes, Third Space Brewing, Company Brewing, Lakefront Brewing, MKE Outdoor Indoor Exchange, Forward Outdoor, Wisconsin Bike Fed and WMSE
