Violinist Ravenna Lipchik, a Milwaukee native, performs a series of recitals on Aug. 21-24 in preparation for her participation in the Naumberg International Violin Competition next spring.
Accompanied by pianist Jeannie Yu, Lipchik will present free hour-long programs at three Milwaukee locations.
On Sunday, Aug. 21 at 4 p.m., Lipchik will perform at the United Methodist Church in Whitefish Bay, 819 E. Silver Spring Dr.; Monday, Aug. 22 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Chapel of St. John’s on the Lake, 1840 N. Prospect Ave.; and on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Center, 1501 S. Layton Blvd.
She will also present a half-hour program at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson St., on Wednesday Aug. 24 at 12:15 p.m.
Lipchik began studying violin at the age of 4. Four years later, she made her debut with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, playing the Bach "Double Violin Concerto." During her junior year in high school, she was awarded the "Prix de Perfectionnement" in chamber music performance by the CNR in Angers, France, and was featured at the 2008 Festival du Rabelais.
Lipchik is currently a student at the the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she is the recipient of the Paul L. and Phyllis Wattis Endowed Scholarship, and the Sergei Barsukov Scholarship.
