Every year around this time, Milwaukeeans start mentioning spring a lot. Technically, spring does begin this month, but that doesn’t mean the weather is going to snap to it. The chance of an April -- even a May -- snowstorm is certainly a possibility.

This leads to the question when exactly does winter end in Wisconsin? Sound-off, readers! We know you love to weigh in about weather.

March. February is the last really bad-weather month and in March it really starts to feel like spring is near.

April. The buds don’t start to pop until April, so winter officially ends in March and April is the first month of spring in my book.

May. Sorry, people, you can fool yourself all you want, but winter hangs on until the end of April or early May. You might get a spring-like day or two in April, but dependable spring weather isn’t present in until May.
