"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
Once again, Milwaukee Ale House, 233 N. Water St., has handily walloped its competition as Milwaukee's favorite brew pub among OnMilwaukee.com readers. And the editorial staff at OnMilwaukee.com agrees.
And it's easy to see why.
With a range of tasty beers, two great outdoor, riverside seating options and a spacious, airy interior, the Ale House is popular with music fans, the after work crowd and beer connoisseurs alike.
The locally-owned and operated Ale House was also among the earliest nightlife destinations to arrive as the Third Ward bar and restaurant scene started taking off in the 1990s.
Now the Ale House team also runs the Milwaukee Brewing Co., too.
OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Milwaukee Ale House
Runners-up:
2. Lakefront Brewery Palm Garden
3. Rock Bottom Brewery
4. Water Street Brewery
5. Stonefly Brewing Co.
6. Hinterland
7. Delafield Brewhaus
8. Grafton Ale House
9. Riverside Brewery
10. Port Washington Brewing Co.

The Ale House has horrible tasting brews, there's a funk about them, go try one right now and get back to me. A certain, je ne ce quoi? that reminds you of a mister yuck sticker. Also, they'll give you the worst hangover you've ever had!

Ale house? Please reprint the Journal Sentinel article on dirty beer lines and contaminated beer. Mug club, what a joke. Fried crap. Give it up for their patio, however. Grafton is the better Ale location. Palm Garden? Dirty. Warm, flat beer, bad food. Hinterland? Overpriced and not worth it. Get a grip Milwaukee. Onopa... wish it were in a safer neighborhood. Watery Street? Not even worth a mention. There's got to be something better.

Heck, you guys haven't been Jimmy's on 27th & North yet. His brewery is in his basement and it's great. He also has a distillery there too.....makes a neat gin. Jimmy's is the best!
