Milwaukee's best new bar, 2014: 42 Lounge

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com – brought to you by Absolut, Avion, Fireball, Pama, Red Stag and 2 Gingers – is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews, the results of our Best of Bars poll and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

42 Lounge, 326 E. Mason St., won the category of Best New Bar – but by less than one percent of the vote with Malone's On Brady coming in a very close second.

42 Lounge – named for a reference in the book "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" – specializes in "all things geek" including gaming consoles, tournaments, themed cocktails and more. Plus, it's the ideal locale to talk "Star Trek," "Star Wars," "Dr. Who," "The Lord Of The Rings" or what you plan to wear this year to Ren Faire.

The bar's themed drinks include the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster or the "PGGB" (a drink that is actually in the "Hitchhiker's Guide"), The Red Potion and the Sonic Screwdriver, which is only served any time Dr. Who is playing.

The OnMilwaukee.com editors picked Jackson's as their favorite new bar, in part because of the great use of space in the former Pabst brewery, but also because of the freely flowing and always fresh Pabst on tap.

OnMilwaukee.com editors' pick: Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub

Runners-up:

2. Malone's On Brady
3. Jackson Blue Ribbon
4. Jack's American Pub
5. Fink's
