Camp Bar to expand

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round – brought to you by Aperol, Pinnacle, Jameson, Fireball, Red Stag and Avion. The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

Even though Camp Bar just opened in November, according to Twitter – and an employee – the popular Shorewood tavern plans to expand in the near future.

Owners Paul and Natalia Hackbarth also own the space next door, Sound By Design, and will soon use it to better serve the growing bar clientele.

Camp Bar, recently named one of the best new bars in the country by Details magazine, is also in the running for the best Old Fashioned, to be revealed next week by the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Stay tuned.

The intention of the new Shorewood-based Camp Bar is to have a look and feel of an upscale Up North cabin. After spending a few hours at the soft opening last night, I can honestly say that it does. Camp bar opens to the public Saturday. Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.

Camp Bar will open in Shorewood, hopefully by Halloween, but most likely in early November, according the general manager John McCarthy. The building, located at 4044 N. Oakland Ave., is currently undergoing a major reconstruction.
