This weekend, Moct, 240 E. Pittsburgh Ave., celebrates big number five.

Flourishing on the north end of the Walker's Point, Moct spent the last five years creating new avenues for artists, musicians and DJs to blend art, music and Milwaukee culture.

Capitalizing on a full wall of garage doors in the summer, it sports a cool breeze in the summer and then closes things off for hot and steamy dance parties all winter long.

In anticipation of its anniversary, Moct underwent some small changes over the last several months to give us a taste of something different for the next five years.

Recently, I sat down with co-owner Nebi Torbica to reminisce about the last five years and talk about the possibilities for the next five.

Moct's anniversary celebration continues tonight and tomorrow. Tonight, stop by for Gallery Night, followed by Marc Anthony's birthday bonanza. Stop back tomorrow for an even bigger birthday bash; Moct celebrates number five with food, drinks and DJs.

OnMilwaukee.com: How would you describe Moct?

Nebi Torbica: I would describe Moct as a multi-purpose urban warehouse venue that can hold everything and anything from weddings to product launches to band afterparties and DJ events.

OMC: What do you think you're known for?

NT: I would have to say parties and / or DJ events. We definitely run the gamut for being diverse.

OMC: Moct has recently undergone a transformation, what's different?

NT: We are going to introduce some appetizers soon; we've added a few flat screens behind the bar and added two huge projectors that fill up the wall. I think that will enhance the space for a happy hour crowd and for the new apartment dwellers and businesses that are moving in across the street. We have also moved the lounge / couches to the bar area to fill the space and make it more cozy to sit under the palm trees!

OMC: Why did you choose a Fifth Ward location?

NT: I chose the Walker's Point or Fifth Ward location knowing that the warehouses one day would be developed as they are being today. The space itself is just awesome.

OMC: A bar for the summer or winter?

NT: I prefer the summer with the garage doors open and patio, but the winter allows us to throw bigger parties and events -- so I'd say it's equally cool.

OMC: What can people, expect at your five year bash?

NT: Great music, DJs, food, atmosphere and a really diverse crowd.

OMC: What's the biggest thing you've learned over the five years of being in business?

NT: That nothing makes sense!
