Tonight we stopped by the grand opening of South Second, a new venue at 838 S. 2nd St. in Walker’s Point. The two-level space features an extraordinary amount of natural light, sliding garage doors leading to a patio and a gentle industrial decor designed by Milwaukee’s HGA firm.

South Second has a capacity of 350 and will be available to rent for weddings, parties, corporate events and more. The business partnered with Saz’s Hospitality Group, which relocated its headquarters to a rehabbed warehouse across the street in May 2015.

At tonight’s event, Saz’s presented multiple stations of food, proving that they are capable of mastering food beyond ribs. (Although the ribs were incredible.) Mexican, Cajun, Asian and seafood buffets were spread throughout the space, along with an offering of Purple Door ice cream-based desserts and an open bar of primarily local beer, wine and spirits.
