The Duplex will, hopefully, go into this historic space soon.

Big plans for old Serum space

William Jenkins, the owner of Ivy Lounge, plans to open a new, two-story lounge and restaurant in the former Serum space, 785 N. Jefferson St. He plans to call the new venture "The Duplex" and says he will start off serving beverages but hopes to eventually offer food.

"I am awaiting approval from the city for liquor licensing, but aggressively shooting for a summer 2012 opening," says Jenkins. "Should all things go according to plan – God willing – I believe that The Duplex will be a great addition to the already, vibrant, awesome and diverse Jefferson Street."

I used to work in this building when it was an internet company back in 2000. It's amazing the amount of places that have come and gone in that space since then. I was a big fan when it was Brio with their affordable, homemade pasta dishes and live jazz. They switched chefs and the food went downhill. Good luck to the Duplex....great area.
