Forbes.com ranks Milwaukee as America's second safest city. |

We're number two. We're number two.
Forbes.com is out with its latest list, "America's Safest Cities." The list ranks America's safest cities, and not just for their crime rates. As the publication notes, "in ranking the cities on our list, we looked at workplace fatalities, traffic-related deaths and natural disaster risk."
Milwaukee ranked second, falling only behind America's safest city, Minneapolis. Greater Milwaukee was "buoyed by the lowest natural disaster risk" of the cities Forbes considered.
Even though our "violent crime" rank was 24 out of 40 cities, other safety indexes helped boost Milwaukee's rank.
Sure, Milwaukee has its pockets of unsafe neighborhoods but, in general, I'd agree that greater Milwaukee - especially Downtown - is very safe. And, for a city our size, extraordinarily clean. Forbes seems to agree.
The "most unsafe" (#40) city? Miami. Chicago, for the record, was tied with Dallas and Austin at #15. St. Louis was #34.

So, speakthetruth, you want to target a large group of people who, by trr's comment, "all fit the same [visual] description." You want to target these people and eliminate them all from existence (by means of sterilization). Why do I feel like I've heard of this idea before? Oh, right, we call that "genocide." You're misusing the term demographic, and that weak attempt at semantic manipulation isn't doing a great job of hiding your blatant bigotry. It's not doing any favors for your argument either, which is full of ignorant assumptions. Not everyone on unemployment has kids, and some certainly aren't capable of working due to injury, illness, or other reasons. I can't believe you are seriously suggesting taking money away from feeding children and put it into killing people. You and everyone that agrees with you can get out right now, and maybe we'll hop up to #1.

It always amazes me that people who complain about "crime" generally refer to neighborhoods in which they have never spent more than five minutes. Sure, TMJ4 will show blood on a sidewalk and sensationalize the latest murder or assault, but ask yourself this: how often is the victim of these crimes really "innocent" and just a bystander? Pretty damn infrequently. The news makes a big deal about the murder rate and violent crime statistics, but those stats all seem irrelevant to me because I've rolled through a lot of what are deemed to be "nasty" areas of the city at all hours, and I've never felt in danger. Sure, I know that there are guns and drugs around, but if I'm not getting into someone else's business, the likelihood of me getting shot or assaulted is ridiculously low. I like my chances on Fond du Lac Avenue on a Friday night in July better than I do on Hwy 41 driving TO the city of Fond du Lac. I'm far more afraid of a drunk driver or sliding in the ditch during a snow storm than I am of being murdered.

I don't want less government as much as I want fewer government giveaway programs for people who should be working and not having so many illegitimate, unwanted children. I want my tax dollars to do the right thing, like get rid of the leeches on members of society who are willing to work and pay their bills. If the amount of money spent on the free and reduced school lunch program was instead spent on permanent birth control, I would be happy. If Medicaid required sterilization, I would pay more for it. I'm not a veterinarian, ether. I don't know how you would think that, I'm sorry.
