Consider this a dare, Milwaukee, to do something ridiculous or miraculous, all for half-sober bragging rights. (Too bad OnMilwaukee.com didn't think about this sooner. There is not a current record on the books for the most cheese carved and OMC would win this one, hands down.)
No, Springfield didn't usurp Milwaukee as America's fattest city, as was reported on "The Simpsons," but here are all of the Wisconsin world records:
Most elephants in a circus. 1920.
The Ringling Brothers of Baraboo included 55 elephants in a circus, breaking a world record.
Furthest "cricket spit." June 18, 1998.
Madison's Danny Capps spit a dead cricket 30 feet and 1.2 inches on TV's "Guinness World Records: Primetime."
Most stacked bowling balls. November 19, 1998
David Kremer of Waukesha holds the record for the most stacked bowling balls without adhesive. He vertically stacked ten balls live on "Primetime."
Farthest one-hour team truck pull. September 30, 2001
20 men from Kenosha pulled a semi-trailer truck weighing 36,620 pounds 3.43 miles at Kenosha Municipal Airport.
Largest Pillow Fight. September 29, 2004.
In Dodgeville, 2,773 participants bonked each other over the heads with pillows for a new world record.
Largest cheese.
Surprisingly, this didn't take place in Wisconsin. Instead, in Grandby, Canada, a 55,508-pound block of cheddar was made for Loblaws Supermarket. Swimming pool fondue, anyone?
