Inside a Lucky Strike in Hollywood, CA |

There are several large developments taking shape in Downtown Milwaukee, including Pabst City (the Brewery), the Park East and Catalyst, a 31-story project planned for the 400 block of West Wisconsin Avenue across from the Midwest Airlines Center. And while most of these have strong desires for entertainment tenants, I haven't heard anyone mention a bowling alley.
Come on, developers, this is Milwaukee! We need a cool bowling facility Downtown.
Bayshore's planning one (IPic Entertainment is opening there), but I'll suggest right now that someone go after a Lucky Strike. These joints are sweet. Retro, mildly upscale yet lounge-like and fun -- all in one package. A Lucky Strike is exactly what Downtown needs.
In 2005, Bill Scheidhauer from Lucky Strike told me this via e-mail," I appreciate your interest in Lucky Strike. Unfortunately, at the moment we do not have any deals working in Milwaukee. But we would certainly entertain the idea if one comes up. Typically our deals are done as part of a development contract. If you find a great site, please let me know."
Again, developers are you listening?
I love Landmark and I know that Bay View Bowl, the Annex and other bowling joints aren't too far from greater Downtown. But, I representing all of us occasional bowlers, want lanes in our Downtown.
Who's with me? Who wants to bowl in Downtown Milwaukee? Let's make it happen, and then let's turn our energies to getting a movie theater already!

Virtual bowling is planned for the BW3 building. It's called The Bassment and, true to its name, it will be in a basement. The Bassment address is 1125 N. Water St., but the building it's in is the Design Center, 1123 N. Water St., also home to the BW3 chicken wing joint. http://onmilwaukee.com/bars/articles/bassment.html Not sure if it's moving forward, though. Anyone know?

I too heard about the bowling alley going underneath bw-3s or at least close to there. Whatever happened to that plan? I think it was being spearheaded by Tom Wackman.

Read the 10/30 Journal Sentinel story closely and you'll see that Catalyst tenants will be similar to those in Ghazi's Charlotte project, which includes Lucky Strike Lanes.

First off every project mentioned has a parking component, but that said we have toomuch available parking in Milwaukee already.
