The Milwaukee Common Council voted, 5-9, Tuesday morning to hold over the decision until January on the proposal for a Milwaukee Streetcar system.
Alds. Joe Davis, James Bohl, Joseph Dudzik, Bob Donovan and T. Anthony Zielinski voted to delay the measure, while Alds. Ashanti Hamilton, Nik Kovac, Robert Bauman, Milele Coggs, Willie Wade, Jose Perez, Terry Witkowski, Russell Stamper and council president Michael Murphy voted against the hold.
Only three votes were needed to effectively hold the matter until the next council meeting, slated for Jan 21. Ald. Robert Puente was excused from the meeting and not present.
Additional votes on streetcar funding were also pushed until the January meeting.
On similar votes, two more streetcar items, which would set up funding for the project, have been held. Votes upcoming on streetcar TIDs.

The latest streetcar proposal was unveiled last month by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. The plan has both its fans and its detractors, both present in the council chamber at City Hall Tuesday morning.
Those in favor of the streetcar starter system plan wore stickers asking council members to support the proposal, while those against the new plan wore red to symbolize halting the program, or at least the vote.
