A group of about 20 to 30 vandals, dressed in black and wearing masks, committed multiple acts of vandalism just after 11 p.m. last night.
The group, which some witnesses described as looking like "ninjas," damaged the windows of several businesses and vehicles near the East Side intersection of Farwell and North Avenues, threw construction barricades into the street and set off smoke bombs in the streets.
Milwaukee Police said that the following businesses reported broken windows:
U.S. Bank, 2303 N. Farwell Ave.
Whole Foods, 2305 N. Prospect Ave.
Qdoba, 2228 N. Prospect Ave.
Bruegger's Bagels, 2045 E. North Ave.
Milwaukee Police are looking into whether this activity was related to a protest earlier in the evening by a group of self-titled "anarchists" in the Riverwest area, department spokesperson Anne E. Schwartz said. There is no one in custody at this time, but some suspects were seen leaving in a green 1992 Honda Civic, license plate 547-HGH.

For the record i do no know or am affiliated with these people that MADE THIS STATEMENT! I support them 100% It's time we all take a look at what LIBERAL CONGRESS and Obama's administration is committing TREASONOUS CRIMES AGAINST OUR CONSTITUTION! no law enforcement , no fbi , no cia agent should be up holding any of THE CRIMES AGAINST WE THE PEOPLE and hold true to AMERICA. The reason why it takes so long, is because no ones life was in danger, the "ninjas" broke windows, not heads. The number of police assigned to each neighborhood in Milw, is minimal, because there are so few men/women that want to go out day after day and risk there own life. Not to mention the officers are not sitting in their squad cars w/ their thumbs up their ass, they are actually on other hitches that are most likely life threatening. So, perhaps you think that they should have just run out the beaten child, or left the dead elderly man lying on his bed, or the daughter hanging from the rafters in her parents garage, or the teenager that just got shot in the head outside of his grandmas (these are examples, to get the point across). Just because other crimes arent listed on onmilwaukee.com or communicated on the news, doesnt mean they dont happen. Do you think that leaving a When there are so many other things probably going on, do you really think it was necessary for them to get to a broken window call in a timely manner? So, should one squad have run over there and stopped the 20 to 30 "ninjas" from breaking the windows? You think that wouldn't have been more of an issue, because I am sure that no one on that street would have helped the officers if it turned ugly. I suppose you think that at that point the 20 to 30 "ninjas" would have just run away with fear, and then the officers could just start shooting at them. I don't have the time or the space in this small text box to explain the difference between a life-threatening situation and a non-violent situation, like broken windows. Perhaps people should start commenting about the good experiences with the police, maybe people would start to see them in a better light, but I suppose attacking them makes for a better read, and if all your experiences with the MPD have been bad, then I suggest you take a look at the kind of person you are. Its unfortunate you seem to be very sheltered. Good luck in the real world, because there are worse crimes then broken windows.

corrina- anarchists are not liberals, nor do they typically vote. they've leveled much criticism against obama. dpk- i dont really give a shit about rehashing this argument some year and a half later. i think the ccc provides a lot of nice services for the area and seems to be doing a lot better at covering rent which opens space for more projects. as for "bourgeois to the core," you clearly don't understand how class works and i can't be arsed to explain it. i have plenty of criticisms of how the movement operates but why people give a shit about some bank windows getting busted is beyond me. they're the real criminals. as for charges, well, we'll see? i can't see any consequences for me though. chateau- i've been a part of the anarchist movement for a decade so yeah, i get how these things go down in general. if the police feel like coming several thousand miles to get told to get off my porch they're more than welcome. i'd think you could find better ways to waste tax dollars though?
