Chin's Asia Fresh, 2907 N. Oakland Ave., has closed.
According to a sign on its door, the Asian fusion restaurant closed for good yesterday. An employee who answered the phone said the franchise's owner did not want to renew the restaurant's lease, and the area's other location in Brookfield is closed, too.
She said that Chin's Madison restaurants remain open. The chain also operates a restaurant in Minnetonka, Minn.

Also reportedly closing is the Harlequin Bakery in the Third Ward.
Owned by Sanford and Angie D'Amato and adjacent to their Coquette Cafe, at 316 N. Milwaukee St., Harlequin is slated to close on Friday.

Someone told me that Chin's was spun off from the original owner to focus on another chain. Maybe that is when the food quality declined. When it first opened, the food quality was very high and service good, plus very clean. We don't need another burger place. We need healthy food!

Why is anyone upset that this place closed? They are so many good local Asian food restaurants, what do we need a chain for?

They won't put a McDonald's there unless they can figure out a way to build a drive-thru. Oakland and Locust is an incredibly busy intersection - the right type of restaurant could do very well there. Since Q-Doba is down the block maybe Chipotle or Moe's Southwest Grill would want to move in. Can we get something to replace Little Caesars too?

I remember eating at Chin's 4 years ago. Pretty good, I thought. I tried it a couple months back. It was completely different and really bad. I couldn't finish my meal - the chicken was just terrible. Clearly they were making these dishes with completely different ingredients than before. Also, the place fell into such disrepair. I couldn't believe it was the same place I liked 4 years earlier.
