What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published March 29, 2007 at 8:06 a.m.

Classic Slice Pizza, 2797 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., opened its doors yesterday and started slicing out its self-proclaimed "monster-size slices" to a hungry Bay View from noon to midnight.

Menu items in this hip eatery include pizzas by the pie or by the slice, calzones for two, and vegan and lactose free pizza options. Prices here are right, as is the interior, which is fun, funky, and light.

I popped in for two just basic slices to go (pepperoni, and sausage, mushroom and onion) and was tickled at the price of just under 10 bucks, and slices which literally made a meal for Scott and I. Our only complaint? The crust, which was burnt to a crisp.

The good news is the pizza sauce and toppings are good enough that we could tell that once the Classic Slice staff gets a handle on the ovens this place will be a sure-fire popular hangout in no time.

They hand toss the dough in the air high enough to make you wonder if they'll catch it on the way down, the space and the music are high-energy, and toppings run the gamut from pesto and broccoli to vegan sausage.

Oh, yeah, and if you're really hungry, they'll whip you up a 26-inch pizza for only $26. That's two feet of pizza love for you, folks. Welcome, Classic Slice, "slice to meet you", too.

Our family tried Classic Slice this weekend...Absolutely loved it! Perfect chewy crust, nice size portions, very fresh toppings, lovely sauce, lots of topping options from the basic to the bizarre. Definitely excited to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. We are pizza lovers at my house and this ranks amongst our favorites in Milwaukee!

I took my two kids there last night, the slices were bigger than they are. A slice was about 1/4 of an entire pie. No Mac and Cheese pizza yet.

I was on my way home last night just before midnight, and I thought "Cool! I can try Classic Slice!" Darn for me, I was too late and they were closed by the time I got there. I will try again tonight!
