The HŌM Wood Fired Grill planned for Bayshore is expected to open in mid-July according to a news release issued this afternoon by SURG Restaurant Group.

The restaurant was originally planned as a second 8-Twelve location, but when SURG ended its relationship with Ryan Braun, it rebranded both the planned restaurant and the already operating Brookfield restaurant as HŌM Wood Fired Grill.

"We have taken great care to create a restaurant that clearly showcases the best of our state which truly reflects SURG’s commitment and reliance on Wisconsin resources. We are proud to work with producers from our state who are passionate about growing and creating the highest quality foods. We plan to highlight these producers with featured dinners and special events throughout the year," said SURG CEO Mike Polaski in the statement.

In addition to specializing in hearty dishes based on ingredients from Wisconsin farms, ranchers, growers and fisheries, the new location will offer lighter fare, too, including sandwiches and skillets. The restaurant will source its beverages from regional brewers, winemaker and coffee roasters.

"Everyone can feel comfortable here," said Omar Shaikh, SURG co-owner and president added. "We wanted to create a gathering place that combined the best parts of living in Wisconsin; from homemade specialties reminiscent of grandma’s cooking and ice-cold Wisconsin microbrews, to honoring our state’s sports and history in HŌM’s décor."
