Barbeque fans will be able to get their smoked meat cravings fulfilled at Iron Grate BBQ Co. beginning on Friday, Dec. 4, when the restaurant, located adjacent to Hawthorne Coffee Roasters at 4177 S. Howell Ave., opens officially to the public.

The restaurant’s tagline, "Home of the Milwaukee Rib" describes one of the options that will be available – a particularly meaty rib that’s specially cut to include both the spare rib and the pork belly.

Other menu options will include beef brisket, pulled pork and smoked hot links, along with side dishes like baked beans, smoked tomato macaroni and cheese, stone ground grits, smothered greens and cole slaw.

The house special will include one meat and three sides for $15. Add an additional meat and the meal will run $23, or get three meats with three sides for $30.

Combos built to feed groups of four, eight or 12 people will also be available, priced from $65 to $215. The combo for four includes pulled pork, hot links, Milwaukee ribs and two sides.

If you’d prefer, you can also purchase meat by the pound, with options priced between $11 and $16 per pound. Sides are $5 for a pint and $8 for a quart.

Iron Grate BBQ Co.’s hours will be Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or until they are out of BBQ). Both dine-in (in the space shared with Hawthorne Coffee) and carry-out will be available.
