In a little more than a week, Jake's Restaurant, 21445 Gumina Rd., in Brookfield (or Pewaukee, depending on who you ask!), celebrates 50 years of serving steaks and other fine dining entrees to Milwaukee-area patrons.

Restaurant owners Jake Replogle Jr. and wife, Karen, will host an anniversary event featuring Jake's signature tenderloin steak, drink specials and an opportunity to reminisce about -- and share memorabilia from -- the restaurant's past. Replogle bought the business from his eponymous father in 2005.

The event takes place Sunday, May 23 from 4 to 8 p.m.

There will be a raffle for a steak dinner at 1960s prices, with up to 100 winners. And all diners can have the tenderloin with onion rings on top for $10.95 (the same deal is offered as a "Customer Bailout" on Mondays). There will be $1 PBR taps, $1.95 Old Fashioneds and $9.95 pitchers of house wine, too.

The Replogles are prepping a time capsule full of mementos from the restaurant and patrons who donate an item will get a gift certificate to the restaurant in return. To reserve a spot at the event, call (262) 781-7995.
