Well, it's that time of year again -- Irish Fest time, that is -- and while I usually don't go to Irish Fest for the food, I'll make my customary stop at the McBob's booth just north of the Tipperary Tea Room.
Then, of course, I'll have to go to the actual McBob's Pub and Grill location, 4919 W. North Ave., soon thereafter, because I'll crave that corned beef for days.
If you haven't been to McBob's in the course of the last year or so, now is a good time to get there. The place underwent a significant facelift and expansion that opened the restaurant up for a more airy feel, and a two-sided fireplace makes the atmosphere even more homey and friendly. The food is as good as ever, if not even better.
Rumor has it, too, that many an Irish Fest piper likes to settle down at McBob's with a pint once the fest closes its gates for the eve.

Also, McBob's has an awesome breakfast. It think they open around 8am. Their thick cut bacon makes my tongue hang out on the side ala Homer Simpson. Their bloody Mary's are also great. Their jalapeno pickle is an unexpected kick in the butt. It's sooo yummy!
