Kincaid's Seafood and Steakhouse is sadly leaving Milwaukee but another seafood restaurant classic is swimming into its space. Molly Cool's Fish Café, a sister restaurant of Stella's Fish Café in Minneapolis, plans to open in the Old World Third Street location mid-May, 2009.
While Minneapolis' Stella's Fish Café serves up heaping portions ideal for sharing, Molly Cool's Fish Café, 1110 N. Old World Third St., plans to downsize plate sizes to offer individualized entrees at a lower price point.
Restaurant owner, Bob Carlson, owns over 15 restaurants in the United States including Stella's in the heart of Minneapolis's trendy Uptown neighborhood.
"Bob really has great things planned for the space. They're going to incorporate a sushi and oyster bar, lots of plasma screen televisions and a slight remodel on the current space," Kyle Stringenz, building co-owner says.
Molly Cool's Fish Café plans to open for dinner starting May 15.

This place was great. I had blackened swordfish, date had stuffed grouper (a rarity in wisconsin!) We had to wait for our reservation and our table was accidentally given away. I didn't mind but the host seemed pretty peeved and bought us 2(!) free appetizers while we waited another 5 minutes. The walleye fingers were great, but the jalapeno poppers were amazing. Good beer selection, great atmosphere, definitely going back.

Glad to here this place isn't going to sit empty for years. Great news for downtown. One more thing to add... hopefully this place will be a little less formal and a lot more affordable. In this market (and in Milwaukee period) we certainly don't need anymore frou-frou, overpriced places. Simple and good, trumps fancy and so-so all the time.
