There are lot of ways to celebrate Milwaukee Day, but one of them is creamy and smooth and oh-so-delicious.

Purple Door Ice Cream, 205 S. 2nd St., will celebrate 4/14 – which coincidentally also marks the company's fifth anniversary – by offering free mini-scoops of ice cream all day long, as well as birthday cake at 6 p.m. Best of all, the shop will introduce 12 Milwaukee-inspired ice cream flavors just for the occasion.

Each ice cream will feature ingredients from Milwaukee-area businesses, including pie, beer, doughnuts, coffees, chutney and more. In fact, we've been told that one of the flavors will incorporate Bittercube orange bitters along with chocolate – ooh, la la!

All Milwaukee flavors will be available by the scoop as well as in shakes, sundaes and flights.

Purple Door, which now creates more than 130 ice cream flavors, will also launch a brand new flavor – beer and pretzel – on Milwaukee Day. This Wisconsin-inspired flavor features Lakefront Brewery’s Eastside Dark stout beer ice cream with chocolate covered pretzel pieces.  The flavor will be available at Purple Door’s Scoop Shop, as well as grocery stores that carry pints of Purple Door ice cream.
