Restaurant Hama is closed

Restaurant Hama, located at 333 W. Brown Deer Rd., is closed for business. The North Shore sushi staple closed its doors last weekend.

After rumors about the restaurant's post-holiday closing, a server confirmed the restaurant would be closing just after Jan. 1. The Japanese restaurant is currently not operating and phone calls to the listed number went unanswered.

Restaurant Hama was co-owned by bestselling Milwaukee author Lesley Kagen.

Kagen and her co-owner could not be reached for comment.

My family will miss this Northend fixture. It was my kids favorite place to eat. Peter was always welcoming and the brothes Able and Amen were skilled and inventive. They offered fresh and inventive fare. We all wish the best to Peter and Leslie.
