Description [edit]
Chandeliers, staircases and blood red walls coupled with violet and black ceiling beams make the 172-seat Maxie’s the perfect meld between romance and fun.

Maxie’s menu features dinner options with an intermingled Southern and N’awlins spin, all for under $25 an entrée. Diners can expect to see classics like chicken fried chicken, jambalaya, gumbo, ribs, and shrimp and grits for dinner, and for “blunch”—too late for breakfast; too early for lunch—Maxie’s will offer some egg-based dishes in addition to soups, po’ boys, and light entrees.

Friday Night 5/27, myself and a friend dined with you, we have both been Maxies customers since you opened and come in many times a month, if Friday night would have been our first experience I am not sure we would stop for a second time. Not surprising that when we arrived there was a wait, we expected such, while waiting space opened at the bar so we returned our number and chose to sit at the bar. As usual Sam was wonderful and automatically knew our drink order and had drinks for us. While it was busy the period of time that passed between our initial drinks and having our order taken was more than unusually long and actually required our asking to have our order taken. I myself had ordered two of each oyster and my companion stated I would like the same, again a fairly long period of time passed and instead of 2 orders of oysters we only received one. We followed the appetizer with 2 orders of one of the specials for the night (Brisket) and again a very long period of time passed before our food arrived, when it arrived the food was barely warm, not hot by any stretch of the imagination. We notified Sam of the problem and he immediately apologized and returned the food to the kitchen. The re-fire of the order took more than thirty five minutes, thank heavens, when it arrived it was hot. For our bad experience a round of beer was deducted from our check. Service was inattentive and slow, the food quality was less than we are accustomed to making the whole overall experience quite disappointing. This was our second bad experience recently our last bad experience involved tough uneatable ribs which we had sent back more than half of our orders, for the bad experience during that visit we were offered a cookie. It truly saddens me that the bad experience with the Maxies family of restaurants continued the next day when myself along with 3 others chose to dine at Blues Egg on Saturday 5/28, we were greeted with the message that they had run out of food and were not serving any longer for the day. I have no expectation of a food or beverage operation to every reach a mark of 100% , I do however believe that a restaurant be able to serve the dining room, in a sense the restaurant has chosen the size of its dining room thus the restaurant should be able to service the seating capacity they have set, sorry I am sorry to say I dont much buy into apologies that are based around we are/were busy. While I dont expect 100% I do look at how an establishment handles when they fall short as to the quality of the establishment and I want you to know I feel you fall short not just in your service, food quality and availability in your attempts in customer retention when you provide a less than stellar experience.

My fiancee and I recently discovered Maxie's although it has been in the area for quite some time. It has always been busy when we've gone there, but rarely have we had to wait for more than ten minutes for a table. The staff has been friendly and prompt. The food ranges from good to superb. The fried chicken and sweet potato fries are exceptional. If you enjoy southern-style cooking, I strongly suggest giving Maxie's a try.

(Also posted on the dining review) My fiance and I had a birthday dinner with my mother at Maxie's last night. Let me start off by saying they have the friendliest wait staff I have ever encountered in this city. It took me aback initially, it is just so unusual to have so many happy and friendly people in a restaurant. From the people who seated us to our waitress and other people who helped us, even when we left. Aside from the very friendly and prompt service, the food is very good. I ordered the BBQ organic tofu sandwich and my fiance ordered the pulled pork plate. My sandiwch was _huge_ and extremely well done. It was a smoked slab of tofu smothered in their BBQ sauce and topped with a tomato and coleslaw. A fine combination for any vegetarian (which I have been for six years). I could not finish my cajun fries due to the size of this sandwich. My fiance had nothing but accolades for the flavor of the pulled pork plate and she is very fond of pulled pork sandwiches. The size of her meal was also extremely large and she took the majority of it home. Since her and I have birthdays that are very close, we were both celebrating together. Our friendly waitress asked if it was someones birthday and when I told her why we were there she let us know that dessert was on the house for us. This complementary dessert was not some small slice of some boring cake but instead their fresh pies of our choosing. I got the banana chocolate coconut cream pie and she got the cheesecake special. Both were delicious and if they don't make those pies in-house they get them somewhere very close and very fresh. We will most certainly go back to Maxie's very soon. The entire experience was exceptional. -- One thing I left out of my talkback to the dining review was that the layout, design and decorations of this restaurant are all very attractive and pleasant to dine in. This is one good looking restaurant.

I dined at Maxies to celebrate an important event. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The server asked us if we were ready to order immediately after us sitting. Not even a minute to get our coats off or give a drink order. Then, we ordered soup, salad, appetizer, and entree. 1 minute after the soup was put down, our server appeared with ALL of the other courses at once. Even Omega's gives you time to eat your soup and salad before bringing anything else. And given we were at a 2-top table, the server never returned to clear any of the dishes. The table was PACKED since all courses came at once. We had to move the dishes to an empty table next to us. At the end of the meal, which only took like 20 minutes as the food was thrown at us, the bill came, we had ordered a small salad, were charged for a full size salad. When brought to the servers attention, we were told "you got a full salad and you ate it". When we responded with we have never been here, had no idea that was a full one, we ordered a small one, she then told us she would have to talk to the manager. I would NOT recomend Maxies...the service was insulting, and the food did not give me any warm fuzzy New Orleans feelings.
