The Milwaukee County Zoo is considered among the finest in the country. It is situated on 200 wooded acres and is home to approximately 2,500 animals, representing 300 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates.

The Milwaukee County Zoo hosts more than 20 special events each year including celebrations at Easter, Halloween and the holiday season.

Open 365 days a year, the Zoo is not be be missed, it's the wildest place in town!

20th Anniversary Down Syndrome Awareness Walk

The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) will host its 20th Anniversary Statewide Down Syndrome Awareness Walk and 5K Run, Roll & Stroll on September 25, 2016. The event is expected to draw thousands of walkers and volunteers to raise awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. The Awareness Walk will take place at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The day begins with a 5K Run, Roll & Stroll through the zoo at 7:30am. The Birthday Bash begins at 10:00am and will feature carnival games, live music, face painting, birthday crafts, prizes, and special guests. At 1:30pm, there will be a Founding Families Celebration and Self-Advocate Showcase, highlighting young adults with Down syndrome in the community and their achievements. Finally, thousands of participants will walk together at 2:00pm to raise awareness and acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome. The Awareness Walk has been the key fundraising event that has helped to support thousands of families over the past twenty years. All funds raised at the walk support DSAW’s life-changing programs and services. Participants can register online for the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk until Friday, September 23 at 12:00pm and can register onsite beginning at 10:00am on September 25. Registration includes day-long entry and full access to the Milwaukee County Zoo, parking, Walk, t-shirt, lunch, and all Birthday Bash activities. Zoo Brew

Regular tickets: $50 Zoological Society members & guests*; $60 non-members; $20 designated drivers. VIP tickets**: $60 Zoological Society members & guests*; $70 non-members; $30 designated drivers. In its seventh year, Zoo Brew is a fun way to sample new brews, try new foods, meet new people and support the ZSM's 2016-'17 annual appeal. From the micro to the macro, guests can sample beers from a wide variety of brewers. You must be at least 21 years old to attend. Online reservations will be accepted through Sept. 28, 2016, and walk-ins will be accepted unless the event fills prior to that date.
