Do you know a woman who's doing a particularly fine job parenting? If so, consider entering her in the "Mother of the Year" contest hosted by a group of Third Ward merchants.
To enter the contest, send an e-mail describing a deserving mom in 250 words or less. Nominations should include the name, address, phone number and e-mail of the nominator and the nominee. Include a photo of the nominee if possible.
The deadline to nominate a deserving mom is May 1. Send your nominations to mothersdaycontestmke@gmail.com.
All nominated moms must live in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington or Waukesha counties. Winners will be notified by Tuesday, May 5.
The grand prize is valued at $1,000 and includes a $150 gift certificate to Home Market, $150 gift certificate from Neroli Salon & Spa, a Freckle Face gift package, a personalized mother's necklace from Juju Gifts, dinner at Hinterland Gastropub, shoes from Shoo and clothing from Stephanie Horne.
A first runner-up will receive a $100 gift card for the Milwaukee Public Market, and a second runner-up will get a $100 gift certificate from the Institute of Beauty and Wellness.
"We wanted to recognize the wonderful, deserving moms we see coming into our businesses throughout the year," says Deanna Inniss, owner and founder of Freckle Face.
