Broad Vocabulary, an independent bookshop at 2241 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in Bay View, will close at the end of this month. Earlier this year, a Schwartz Bookshop location across the street also closed.
"There is still the possibility that someone will take over the store and reopen it, but Tina and I know, for a variety of reasons both economic and personal, that we can't keep the doors open any longer than Nov. 30," says co-owner Jennifer Morales.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 15, Broad Vocabulary will have a liquidation sale, with 40 percent off books and merchandise. The new hours until the closing day are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"It's a great loss to Milwaukee, to the South Side, and to us personally," says Morales. "We hope something even better will take its place, but whatever that may be, it will not flourish without your constant and devoted support -- and that means putting your money where your heart is."
Broad Vocabulary's phone number is (414) 744-8384.

I believe there is a Bookstore for sale if you're interested Hckyboy00, that would be one less empty store front.

yes, because gosh all those closed store fronts with for lease signs all over town look mighty attractive. We better get those struggling business out of the way to make room for more gas stations and parking lots. Whats that? a one of a kind store in Milwaukee is closing? well good news for us, because now there is room for one more liqour store on KK!

My guess is that alot of people haven't been there, hence the closing. Bury the dead before they stink up the joint.

Custom123...had to ever been to Broad Vocabulary? You're obnoxious statement leads me to believe otherwise. If books that promote social, gender, and racial equality bother you, fine. But don't say it "sucked." That's just the small-mindedness that places like Broad Vocabulary are trying to teach about and discourage. BV did have a lot to offer; it was something that Milwaukee didn't have and now unfortuately will not anymore.

No, it's most likely that the place had nothing to offer therefore no one went there. The place sucked and now it's gone, end of story.
