If Mrs. Fields and Famous Amos aren't nervous this morning, they should be.
Based on some admittedly shallow research, Midwest Airlines' foray into the chocolate chip cookie retail market has the potential to be a hit.
Packages of 32 frozen, ready-to-bake cookies, with a retail price of $8.99, went on sale at area Sendik's stores Wednesday. I headed to a store near my house at about 5 p.m. and found that they were sold out.
"We'll keep getting them in," a store employee told me.
As I was leaving, a woman asked the employee about the cookies. "My husband flies a lot, so I thought I would surprise him," she said.
Based on what happened yesterday, the best way to procure the cookies, made by Best Maid Cookie Co. in River Falls, is to buy a ticket on a Midwest flight that depart after 10 a.m. That would be fine with my 7-year-old. We were flying to a family gathering last weekend and a flight attendant noticed how much my little one enjoyed the tasty treats and gave her a bag of them to go when we landed.

This would have been a great PR campaign for them when they were really financially hurting a few years ago. Smart move! Can't wait to get mine!!!
