Later this month, WISN-TV Ch. 12’s Marianne Lyles will depart for Indianapolis to join the staff at WTTV-TV.

"It’s a little bigger market," she said when we spoke a few weeks ago as the November sweeps period was wrapping up. "I’m sad. It’s going to be rough the next couple of weeks."

Lyles has been at the station for 6 years, starting in 2008 as a general assignment reporter. When she had the opportunity to anchor on weekend mornings, she jumped at it and was grateful to find an audience that kept up with her. She was then added as a third anchor to the WISN morning newscast, where she developed the relationships she is having a hard time letting go.

"This is just the way it worked out, I’ll be closer to my family, but will miss my family here," she said.

Lyles said that she considers herself fortunate to have worked with Patrick Paolantonio, Sally Severson and the producers.

"I’m the luckiest person," Lyles said. "Every shift I worked on, I worked with the best group of people."

Lyles said that some moments in Milwaukee really stick out, like the freeway standoff on I-94 and covering the NFL lockout.

"I was sent to Green Bay and had to cover it like a sports reporter, for an extra new report. We interviewed (Randall) Cobb at the end of the parking lot … I had to check with Dan Needles if he was someone important with the team. We still talk about it," she said.

Lyles will be on the air shortly after the New Year at WTTV.

BUCKS ON AIR: Fox Sports Wisconsin has reported a ratings increase for Milwaukee Bucks games this season. The cable outlet and exclusive home of Milwaukee Bucks basketball, has seen the highest ratings since the 2010-11 season.

Buck’s telecasts of 18 games through November averaged a 2.52 household rating, representing a 404 percent increase during the same period last year. Now, considering how poorly the team played last year, the increase is a nice gain. However, many of the per-game ratings last year were so low, they didn’t measure even a tenth of a ratings point.

The Bucks and Brooklyn Nets game on Nov. 19 is the highest rated to date with a 3.79. Fox Sports Wisconsin covers the entire state of Wisconsin, and the Milwaukee market is about 42 percent of the total Bucks viewing audience.

BIG BAND: WMSE-FM’s "Sunday Big Band Show" host Dewey Gill, was on National Public Radio’s "Here and Now" on Wednesday, which airs here on local affiliate WUWM-FM.

"This is a big honor for Dewey and WMSE," said Tom Crawford, WMSE’s general manager. "We are the only station in Milwaukee that has a weekly big band show and dedicated jazz programming. It’s great to see Dewey and the station receive national recognition."

The interview is available on NPR’s archives

IN THE OFFICE: Quizmaster will be hosting a 30-question quiz about "The Office" at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Three Lions Pub in Milwaukee. The cost is $5 per player.
