Word has come tonight of the death of Melodie Wilson, the veteran Milwaukee TV news anchor who has publicly battled cancer for years. She was 59.
Wilson had anchored at both Channel 4 and Channel 6 before retiring in 1998.
She had her first bout with cancer in 1992. Seven years later she started ABCD, After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, a support group for others experiencing what she had been through.

Melodie was an incredibly strong, intelligent, and brave woman, who faced and fought cancer with great courage and strength, while reaching out to many others at the same time. Her death is a tremendous loss for our community in so many ways. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
