I've heard many people say that they thought Daniel Johnston was dead after the 2004 release of tribute album, "The Late, Great Daniel Johnston," on which artists such as Bright Eyes, Beck, Tom Waits, Death Cab For Cutie and Violent Femmes' Gordon Gano made appearances.

Of course, a year later, with the release of the film "The Devil and Daniel Johnston," which earned director Jeff Feuerzeig the American Directing Award (Documentary) at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, we all realized he wasn't.

Despite his ongoing battles with mental illness, the infamous singer / songwriter and artist is still quite active, as is demonstrated by his recent album, "Lost and Found," and subsequent tour, which brings him to Turner Hall Ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $22 (Seated General Admission) in advance and go on sale Friday, Dec. 21 at noon at The Pabst Theater box office and The Riverside Theater box office, at turnerhallballroom.org and tickets.com, or by calling (414) 286-3663 or (800) 511-1552. Tickets are $25 day of show.
