Two months and a day after legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr blows out the 78 candles on is birthday cake, he’ll take the stage for his first Milwaukee gig since he appeared at the Riverside in 2015 as part of the 12th All Starr Band tour.
Though the Milwaukee stop is listed as Sept. 8 on the U.S. leg of Starr’s lengthy 2018 All Starr Band tour, which kicks off at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa on Sept. 1, the venue is not listed.
A source here said an announcement of the venue – which is a stage upon which Starr has not previously performed – is forthcoming.
This time around, Starr’s band includes Colin Hay (Men at Work), Steve Lukather (Toto), Gregg Rolie (Santana, Journey) and new member Graham Gouldman of (10cc). On percussion and sax is Warren Ham and on drums Gregg Bissonette.
As always, the show will be a mix of songs by the Beatles, from Starr’s solo records and All Starr Band members’ performing some of their own hits.
"There is no greater joy for me than playing great music with great musicians," Starr said in the tour release. "Every night we get to play for all those loving people and it makes the hassle of touring worth it. It is a Peace & Love fest and I can’t wait to see you all out there this summer and fall."
A 21-date European tour takes place in June and July, with the 20-date U.S. tour filling the September calendar.
Starr’s most recent record, "Give More Love," was his 19th studio set and arrived last September, just two months before Ringo was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Starr also went to Buckingham Palace with the Fab Four in 1965 to receive the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal from Her Majesty.
Starr is also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once as a Beatle and once for his own work.
