The "Milwaukee Gas Light" app brings the weather forecast to life via the flame at the historic Wisconsin Gas Light Building, 626 E. Wisconsin Ave., in Downtown Milwaukee.

You probably know the rhyme:

When the flame is red, it's warm weather ahead
When the flame is gold, watch out for cold
When the flame is blue, there's no change in view
When there's a flickering flame, expect snow or rain

Developed by StefanikSoftware, the app is 99 cents and available only for iPhone.

I didn’t download it yet, but the design on the site looks nice. It basically takes a forecast feed and accompanies it with the closest color flame featured on a graphical representation of the Gas Light building.

A necessity?  Probably not.  A cool, Milwaukee app?  For sure.
