In tribute to the passing of Prince, Lamar Advertising created two Prince billboards that are running on digital billboards across the country. In Milwaukee, the billboards can be seen at the intersection of Greenfield Avenue, Cesar Chavez Drive and Muskego Avenue on Milwaukee’s South Side.

One of the billboards reads "I Only Wanted To See You Laughing In The Purple Rain" and the other says "RIP" with the "P" crafted as the Prince symbol.

According to David Olson, the art director for Lamar’s Milwaukee offices, this is not unprecedented. "We’ve done this before, but not often," says Olson. "We had billboards for Merle Haggard’s passing. It depends on who or what inspires our artists."

Prince, of course, inspired many, many people and will continue to do so forever.
