If you follow the morning show on WXSS-FM 103.7 Kiss FM in Milwaukee, then late yesterday you may have caught wind of a staffing change.
"Big radio shake-up in Milwaukee as Riggs crosses the street from afternoons at Clear Channel's WRNW (97-3 Radio Now) and joins the morning show on Entercom rival-turned-best friend WXSS (103.7 Kiss FM), replacing Rahny Taylor," Taylor posted on his Facebook fan page late Wednesday night.
"The rebranded Wes, Riggs & Alley show debuts Monday, Aug. 19," the post stated, giving the RAMP music and radio industry email newsletter credit for the news.
Wes McKane and Alley Faith talked about the change with Andy Riggs on the air this morning.
David Adams, the programming director at WRNW-FM Radio Now confirmed the news that Riggs is moving on.
"He’s in house here for the next week or so," Adams said of the afternoon show host. "We are happy for his opportunity, but super-sad to see a good person go."
Jackson Blue will slide over from his night shift to cover afternoons while Aaron Rogers, who is usually on over the weekend, will be running the board on the 7 p.m. to midnight weekday shift.
"We are working on a plan right now (to fill the opening)," Adams said.
Riggs said he’s pretty excited about the move.
"They approached me about an opportunity they had," he said. "Wes and Alley are both great and this is an opportunity to showcase my personality a bit more."
Riggs told me that he's been in Milwaukee for three years now and loves it here. We talked about his skydiving hobby and other things he's interested in, which I'm sure will make it into the banter with his co-hosts.
The staff at KISS seems pretty happy to have him, too.
"We couldn’t be more excited to add Riggs to the KISS morning lineup here in Milwaukee. The market loves this guy and he’s been a fierce competitor. Adding him to our team is the icing on an already awesome cake," Brian Kelly, programming director at WXSS, told All Access.
Media is bombarding us everywhere.
Instead of sheltering his brain from the onslaught, Steve embraces the news stories, entertainment, billboards, blogs, talk shows and everything in between.
The former writer, editor and producer in TV, radio, Web and newspapers, will be talking about what media does in our community and how it shapes who we are and what we do.
