If there's any figure on the contemporary dining scene in Milwaukee that needs no introduction it is Sandy D'Amato. D'Amato, who is best known as the founder and former owner of Sanford and Cafe Coquette, has cooked around the world and might almost be single-handedly responsible for the current restaurant boom in the city. We caught up with D'Amato as his hardcover memoir and cookbook, "Good Stock: Life on a Low Simmer," is published. Enjoy this Milwaukee Talks with Sandy D'Amato.

Though Patrick Murphy isn't new to Le Reve Patisserie and Cafe in Wauwatosa, he just assumed his new post as chef de cuisine last month. Now that he's top man in the kitchen at Le Reve, Murphy is working with sous chef Ashely Lamey to create a new dinner menu at the restaurant. Clearly, it is time to catch up with Murphy for this latest chef profile.

Foodies around town know the Bartolotta name, of course, and Bartolotta chefs like Adam Siegel and Juan Urbieta are also pretty high profile in Milwaukee. But as anyone knows, it takes a village -- or at least a crack staff -- to make a restaurant like Wauwatosa's Ristorante Bartolotta hum on a daily basis. So, when we met the tall and outgoing Zak Baker recently at the Ristorante, we decided that you ought to know him, too.
