For more than a few years now, I've been secretly and not-so-secretly monitoring how brands, restaurants and companies have been using their social identities as customer relationship tools. It never ceases to amaze me the lack of effort that is put into a very easy avenue for communicating with customers.

When it comes to dining, there is this belief that the customer knows best. Some people believe that when they go out to eat they should combine components from other dishes to create their own idea of what they want. This is an issue that most chefs deal with day and night.

Despite the stereotypes, yesterday's trip to the DMV was one of the quickest and more efficient experiences with any government entity I've ever dealt with. It was almost, believe it or not, actually pleasant.

Customer service plays a key role in the shopping experience at the wholesale and retail level. Many times, quality service is overlooked and poor service is exaggerated. The result is a polluted marketplace and a re-examination of what customers should expect from the encounters.
