The Shops of Grand Avenue, formerly called Grand Avenue Mall, is once again reinventing itself. And for Dave Begel, it seems promising. The mall is far from dead.

Thousands of cars pass through the nearby intersection of Mayfair and Watertown Plank Roads every day, but the full service restaurant only a few hundred yards away remains unknown to most. That's because Innovation is inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel, itself something of a stealth sleepery in the Milwaukee County Research Park.

On Friday, some treats landed in the office, thanks to the folks at Blue Tomato Cafe and Lai Lida Cookies in Glendale. And, later, I took the kids to check out the fish fry at INNovation at the Crowne Plaza on Mayfair Road.
