Though Donald Driver's contract extension may lead to some head scratching from amateur capologists and wanna-be GM's, the veteran wide receiver is a better gamble than a lot of the so-called "sure things" on the free agent market and the team should be commended for honoring his desire to be "a Packer for life."

OnMilwaukee.com sports columnist Dave Begel checked out the Milwaukee Iron game Friday night at the Bradley Center and came away excited about the action, the excitement and especially the Platinum Dance Team. As usual, though, Begel found things to criticize in terms of the game production and bombardment of commercials. On balance, though, Begel gives the af2's Milwaukee franchise a thumbs-up.

When iconic National Football League broadcaster John Madden announced his retirement this week, virtually everyone in the sports media scrambled to Rolodex and frantically made calls seeking comment... from Frank Caliendo. "I got an e-mail from my manager asking if I'd heard that John Madden had retired," the Waukesha native and UWM graduate said in a phone interview from his home in Tempe, Ariz.
