I've spent a little time thinking about the best shows I've ever seen in Milwaukee. Fortunately, being an OnMilwaukeean for 12 years gives me a handy guide to my favorite shows ever: with two exceptions on this list, I wrote reviews at the time, and thus, I could easily find the dates of the shows and could revisit my impressions at the time.

Now that I'm completely addicted to Glaswegian band Glasvegas' self-titled debut LP, I've been trying to come up with the perfect comparison for its blustery, melodic wall-of-sound Brit-pop. That bit of irrelevance aside, Glasvegas is touring the U.S. opening for Kings of Leon and plays at the Bradley Center on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Violent Femmes, BoDeans, Al Jarreau ... these are the kinds of names we think of when we think of Milwaukee's contribution to the music business. But you've likely never heard of one of the most powerful Milwaukee-area natives in the music business. Peter Gray is senior vice president of pop promotion at RCA Music Group, working with the likes of Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson.

After a memorable set opening for Kings of Leon Wednesday night at the Eagles Ballroom, The Whigs awoke Thursday to find their van had been burglarized.
