He also writes about beer for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Beer Connoisseur. After traversing four states in the upper Midwest, Agnew has published, "A Perfect Pint's Beer Guide to the Heartland." We asked him about it.

Brewery and distillery tours are both informative and affordable ways to consume history and beer. Not surprisingly, there are many good ones in town, but also plenty of great tour opportunities beyond Brew City.

Lakefront Brewery's Riverwest Stein won the category of Best Local Product with Milwaukee Brewing Co.'s Louie's Demise and Rumchata coming in tied at second.

Back when brewery tours in Milwaukee meant only Miller and Pabst, you could also visit the tiny Riverwest factory of Lakefront and help yourself to the taps while the owners of the business explained how they made their beer.
