Common Ground wants to meet with Bucks owner Edens on distressed properties

The Southeastern Wisconsin Common Ground group gathered at North 44th Street on Thursday morning to protest the desire of Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wes Edens, along with co-owner Marc Lasry, to receive public funds for a new multi-use arena in Downtown Milwaukee. Nationstar, the company Common Ground says owns hundreds of distressed properties in Milwaukee, had addressed the group with a letter on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Bucks are now officially in the second half of the 2014-15 season, having completed 44 of their 82-game schedule. Currently, they are an Eastern Conference playoff team. Are they overachieving? Are young players arriving early? Or, might an "accidental" playoff berth set the franchise back in its quest to acquire a difference maker?


Gov. Walker: "Jock tax" will put $220 million into new arena

Gov. Scott Walker announced a plan to funnel $220 million of tax money into a new multi-purpose arena in Downtown Milwaukee. He said the money will come from a "jock tax" on professional athletes who play in Wisconsin.
