PrideFest: June 5-7
PrideFest celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) culture and the LGBTQ community.
The festival started in 1988 with a 500-person picnic in Mitchell Park, but since 1997, it has taken place at the Henry Maier Festival Park. Every year, the event attracts thousands of people and families, both gay and straight.
This year's headliners include Ani Difranco on the Miller Lite Main Stage on Saturday at 10 p.m. On Sunday, En Vogue takes the main stage at 8:15 p.m. Alex Newell and Ty Herndon are also scheduled to perform.
Drag shows, DJs, interfaith prayer services and children's activities are also scheduled. There is also a plethora of local acts, including Roxie Beane, BJ Daniels, Lauryl Sulfate and Her Ladies of Leisure and more.
Gender-neutral bathrooms are new to PrideFest this year in order to ensure the comfort of all guests.
