Wave celebrates 30 years with new look
The Milwaukee Wave will celebrate its 30th year in 2013-14 and in recognition of that anniversary new owner and CEO Sue Black introduced a sleek new look with new team logos and uniforms, as well as some front office changes at a press conference Thursday outside the U.S.Cellular Arena.
"Being the 30th year it was like go big or go home and that's what we've done," Black said. "I truly want to bring a championship back to Milwaukee."
With that in mind, the team also announced several new player signings, including 2013 Major Indoor Soccer League All-Rookie team member Carlos Munoz.
"A new uniform, a new direction, and next year we are confident we will be doing our best to bring a championship back to Milwaukee," Wave forward Hewerton said.
With the new additions and with head coach Keith Tozer back with a new extension, the Wave hopes to top the 3 million mark in franchise attendance in 2014.
"I just hope you're as proud of this team as I am," Black said.
Other notables in attendance included former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson and Frank Gimbel, chairman of The Wisconsin District.
"I'm just so excited about the future and making this thing happen," Black said.
The Wave opens its home season on Dec. 7 against the Baltimore Blast.
Who designed the logo? I don't like it at all....anybody else like or dislike it?
