On July 12, the first-of-its-kind Potawatomi All-Star Wiffle Ball Tournament will be hosted at the Hotel & Casino’s Event Center, giving participants the chance to meet and play against former major league players.

The tournament is open to the public, with the first 50 teams to register accepted into the tournament field limit. The winner from the field of 50 will play a game against former MLB players, including former Brewers legend Jim Gantner and Paul Wagner, who played for four big-league teams, including the Brewers. More former players are to be named.

"It’s going to be a lot of fun being a part of the Potawatomi Wiffle ball tournament," said Wagner, who threw 8 2/3 innings of no-hit ball while on the Pirates. "If I was throwing a Wiffle ball, I might still be playing. The tournament champions better be ready for us!"

"Nothing brings back summer memories quite like Wiffle-ball," said Tom Malloy, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Assistant General Manager/Chief Marketing Officer. "We’re excited to be bringing this first-time event, complete with former major league players, to our property. It’s sure to be a fun day."

Teams will comprise three to five players and all must be 21 or older. Teams can be composed of men, women or may be co-ed. Each of the five members of the roster will bat, with a maximum of three players in the field. While there will be bases on each of the six indoor diamonds, there will be no base-running, with all offense coming from batted balls or walks.

A special feature will bring excitement to every game: the Poto Ball Challenge. During the third inning, the third batter from each team will be thrown a special Poto Ball. Anyone who hits a home run with the Poto Ball will be entered into a raffle for signed baseball memorabilia, cash prizes, and more.

This promises to be an evening that baseball players and fans won’t want to miss. A $50 entry fee is required and each team will receive food, beverage vouchers and a team photo/autograph with the former players in attendance.
